SmartEnCity Academy Recap
On 22 September, the final lesson of the "SmartEnCity Academy for Zero Carbon Transition” took place. Overall, more than 250 city and municipality representatives, project developers, researchers and other interested stakeholders took part in the four lessons, learning more about the SmartEnCity approach to Smart City development.

Residents of Tartu will be able to review Tartu Energy 2030+, also known as the new Tartu Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plan (SECAP) which was created as part of the SmartEnCity project.
SmartEnCity at European Week of Regions and Cities 2020
The European Week of Regions and Cities is an annual four-day event during which cities and regions showcase their capacity to create growth and jobs, implement European Union cohesion policy, and prove the importance of the local and regional level for good European governance. In 2020, the event will take place over three weeks and will be digitally available. Meet SmartEnCity representatives on 15 and 21 October!
SmartEncity demo district of Tartu received its 14th mural
This week, the 14th mural of the SmartEnCity project was completed in Tartu. The artist of the mural is Mall Nukke, a highly acclaimed local modern artist, whose numerous works can be found in art museums and galleries in Estonia and abroad. The newly finished painting, titled “The Faun”, is inspired by her own 1992 drawing “The Broodings of Faun”, which has been reinterpreted and recolored.
Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz: New façades in Aldabe Street
Despite summertime is usually a quiet period of the year, SmartEnCity deployment in Vitoria Gasteiz keeps moving on no matter the season. The end of the summer has brought some new façades to Aldabe Street as well as the district heating network deployment works continue with trench excavation.

The Estonian SmartEnCity Network is heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic but it is trying to pick up pace again.

Strategic Planning in Vitoria-Gasteiz; picking up the tent just before the storm! Vitoria-Gasteiz municipality officially started its Energy Transition strategic process with a city diagnosis in 2019, leading to a 2020 crucial year in terms of Strategic Planning.
Update from the national Bulgarian SmartEnCity Network
Bulgarian SmartEnCity Network has been created involving six Bulgarian municipalities as well as a number of other relevant stakeholders. Various collaborative actions have since been performed before the activites were affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
