Danish SmartEnCity Network is sharing good practices
The leaders of the national-based SmartEnCity Network (Energibyerne) in Denmark have started discussions with the three leading Danish green islands with the idea of sharing the Energibyerne learnings focused on the barriers, challenges, and opportunities that islands have regarding the energy transition.
Housing Associations are playing an important role in Sonderborg's city transition
Since 2018, Sonderborg's six non-profit housing associations have completed more than 190 energy renovation projects and invested almost DKK 200 million DKK in solar energy as well as conversions from gas to district heating or heat pumps
Update for Coronacion Neighbourhood to inform about final phase of SmartEnCity
Beginning of February, a meeting was held for the residents of the demo district Coronacion in Aldabe civic centre, where David Grisaleña (technical responsible of SmartEnCity project in Vitoria-Gasteiz), Ianire Anaya (Member of the Direction of Giroa Veolia) and Ana Oregi (City Councillor of Territorial Politics and Sustainable Environment) took part as speakers and updated the attendees with the latest news from the final phase of SmartEnCity project’s deployment in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
Danish Housing Association Andelsboligforening (SAB) completed green renovation
270,000 DKK saved: The renovation of the Rådmandsløkken 2A-24F department in Sønderborg Andelsboligforening (SAB) has now been completed and is an important piece in the green transformation of Lighthouse City Sonderborg.
SmartEnCity Italian Cities Network Webinars
In the framework of the Italian SEC Network two main events have been planned for the next months: an online webinar on 22nd February and a face-to-face meeting in Lecce in April 2022. The main aim of these two events is to share the results of Lecce Municipality as follower city during the six years project and favour a discussion between the Italian cities on smart city and energy transition topics, understanding where they are in the process and what are the most common issues they faced, presenting possible examples and/or solutions based on Lecce experience. In the following are included the information and agenda of the Webinar, that will also include a contribution from Tartu Regional Energy Agency about their experience in the process from IEP to SECAP.
Danish SmartEnCity Network Energibyerne meeting on site in Horsens
After many online meetings in the past two years, the Danish SmartEnCity Network, Energibyerne, met for a 24h meeting in Horsens municipality on the 7th-8th December 2021.
The City Council of Lighthouse City Sonderborg has approved its Masterplan2029
Lighthouse City Sonderborg must hit the CO2 zero in 2029, and therefore ProjectZero has, on behalf of the City Council, coordinated the preparation of the new Masterplan2029, which describes how the area will achieve its goals. The City Council has approved the master plan at a meeting on 22 December 2021.
One Tonne Saving of CO2 Emissions through Electric Bike Service for Municipal Staff in Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz
Big success for the smart service for municipal staff in Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz: From February 2020 til December 2021, a total of 8150 km was covered with the use of the electric bicycles of the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, which is equivalent to a saving of 1 tonne of CO2 emissions!

After one year extension of the project duration, SmartEnCity is now coming to an end. The consortium would like to share its experiences and results and invites you to Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz to join the Final Conference on 14-15 June 2022.
A successful year ended with several awards for Lighthouse City Vitoria-Gasteiz and SmartEnCity
In the last months of 2021, SmartEnCity has been awarded with several prizes for the deployment of project activities in Vitoria-Gasteiz Lighthouse City. In particular Visesa was recognized with the Quality Innovation Award 2021, in the category of Public Bodies, for its role as Delegated Promoter in SmartEnCity deployment in Vitoria-Gasteiz.
